How a simple notebook became a 224-page grimoire

The story of my (unexpected) encounter with the Champinups.

What a crazy launch on Ulule! 🚀

It's the start of an incredible adventure, and it's all thanks to the first Explorers who have already joined us. To be completely honest with you: I hadn't planned on Champinup being my next release!

In my mind, my next book was going to be one of my novels... But life (and my intuition) decided otherwise.

Let me tell you how this project literally doubled in size.

🎨 Just another artbook? No way!

Originally, it was my husband Thib (illustrator) who sparked this project. After his success with Femmes Animales and Gang des Bicquettes, he embarked on a collection of illustrations dedicated to mushroom women: the Champinups.

But when I saw the beauty of his watercolors, my heart skipped a beat.

I thought to myself: "It's such a shame that this is ‘just’ another art book. "

We often see it at book signings: picture books attract art lovers, but sometimes leave those who, like you and me, love stories, feeling unsatisfied.

Thib also felt that something was missing to bring the universe to life. So, I added my own touch. 😏

✨ Metamorphosis: From image to narrative

I did what I do best: I tuned in and went (through channeling) to meet these creatures. Because yes, as I always say, all the universes we create already exist somewhere.

That's where I discovered an incredible wealth. They weren't just static models on paper, they had:

• A unique story to tell.

• An essential role in the balance of nature.

• Secrets they were just waiting to share

The project took a complete turn. It was no longer just a showcase of illustrations, but the logbook of an explorer discovering a new world.

The result?

We went from a 100-page collection to a fantastic bestiary of at least 224 pages!
